The challenge

Ambitious & talented founders were looking to raise investment capital. Potential investors wanted to see a more credible leadership team with proven ability to demonstrate their capacity to execute the company’s strategy.

The CEO needed help but was initially sceptical of consultants. The HR manager at the time said to him; “I can see there are problems in the business, and I know this chap I worked with at EA who can help and I am prepared to bet my next month’s pay packet that if you take a meeting with him you will find it valuable”.

We worked with the CEO to strengthen the leadership team in key positions and developed the tools to forge a common purpose, goals and roadmap.

We helped enable team members to recognise the impact of their style and behaviours, which has built their inner conviction, confidence and capability to lead change.

Working with them to develop an integrated team to take the business to its next stage of growth was key. This process has involved coaching the CEO and members of the leadership team and offering expert guidance on leadership, culture and strategy, through strategy and team workshops.

By 2015, Miniclip had come to the attention of Tencent, the Chinese technology and entertainment conglomerate, who acquired the business for a substantial undisclosed fee. Today, ten years after we started work with Miniclip, the business is 17.5X revenue and 13X users. Miniclip is now itself acquiring gaming businesses and growing apace.

The executive team has grown in both capability and maturity. They now demonstrate a clear vision and strategy for the business and lead the execution of that strategy through an increasingly capable organisation.
